Survey says!

We got a package in the mail with all the contracts and documents from the lawyer.  We found an original survey of the house included with all the legal stuff.  It's an antique from June 23, 1951! That was a nice surprise because it saves us from having to hire someone and pay them to do it.  Its hard to see the dimenions but we're Lot 50 and all the dimensions we need are on here.

Dave looked up all the rules and regulations for building in the areas and we are getting a picture of what the house will look like.  Next step is getting the architect in to put our ideas down on paper.

Ch-ch-ch-changes....

We've been in the new house for a couple weeks now and so much as changed to transform the front and back of the house from the jungle it was to the big lovely cleaned up space it has become. With lots of help from mom, dad and grandma, its looking so much better.  We can't believe how much bigger it looks, even the neighbours have commented on it.  Take a look a the before and after photos!

The view from the front before-this picture is from the MLS listing, it looked much worse than this.
The view from the from after dad and his saw got to it!
We're trying to grow grass over where the hedges and paths used to be.

The backyard before - what a disaster! Where is the shed!

The backyard after major powerwashing, weeding, and flower planting!
We never would have been able to do it with out the help....thank you, thank you, thank you.

It's a Jungle out there...

On June 14th we got the keys to our new home.  We made our way there prepared to face whatever the previous owner/renter had left behind.  Suprisingly we were greeted with an empty garage, house and shed...only the smell of pets and cigarette smoke remained.  What we weren't ready for was the jungle in the backyard, seriously overgrown. Mom and Dad have their work cut out for them.   Dave carried me over the threshold, so romantic, then we had champagne and cupcakes and then he installed a brand new toilet...even more romatic!  I swept the house out with a new broom which I learned is an Italian tradition meant to sweep away all the negative energy from the home.  Its too bad it couldn't sweep away the stink!   Lots of work ahead...stay tuned!

You say good-bye, I say hello....

We're a week away from leaving our row townhouse house in the east end for a detached fixer-upper in Etobicoke.  Good-bye Danforth, streetcars and shared walls.  Hello Long Branch, Go-train and detached living!  I know Dave will turn our war-time bungalow into a beautiful home.  It's going to be an adventure!

Time to say good-bye

Our new home! So much to do...
